Dual cabs

This might have been asked before, but which years were the 110 dual cabs available in Australia?

I'm looking to buy a dual cab soon, and I'm leaning more towards a 110 than a 130, unless I can't find a 110 dual cab with a tdi200/tdi300 motor. I want to try to avoid the TD5 if possible.

I'll probably put something up in the wanted section, but I want to get my facts straight first.

You'll only find the 110 DC in the puma. Although you can always modify a 110 wagon to DC with the DC roof panel and ute rear window, but you have to make the infill panel yourself.

A 110 trayback is a very different beast, which you'll have to make yourself.

Ha. Coulda sworn there was a small number of them floating around.

What model do you have to pull the DC roof panel off? Any 130 will do? Or has anything changed with size over the years?

There are a couple of factory td5 110 double cabs around but they are private imports from the UK like my 2006 double cab 110.

I don't know of any tdi or older, there's a few different conversions I've seen around but the alpine winow in the roof gives them away as 110 wagons in a previous life and the shape isn't quite right. I'm not sure on panel size re 130 but I know the inside is different at the back like under and behind the rear seats.

The double cabins handy for lots of things but sometimes life would be easier with a wagon I reckon as some accessories are hard to get and rear ute space is practically none unless you fit a swing away carrier. Bu then again they look mean with the canopy off and they are pretty rare.

The only reason I want the tray is to carry the dogs around. My current car is a battleground where a war is constantly waged between me and dog hair.

Hence also considering bobtailing a 130 for a smaller tray and better departure angle.

There was a small batch of DC 110s built for the Bicentennial Authority in 1987. These were V8s. There are probably still a few about but it is several years since I saw one.

Pretty sure they brought the tdi double cabs here but they will be rare as hens teeth.

There are no TD5 110 DCs in Aus apart from Josh's, mine and I think 1 in QLD and possibly 1 in SA.

All that said, they are excellent if you have a hairy hound, especially of you put a Kaymar wheel carrier on the back to make more space inside.

Manual. Mechanically they were standard 110s.
