I bought a 200tdi discovery that needs some work, i noticed the heater core is not connected to the engine, that is, the hoses are missing, i assume that the heater core was leaking, but i thought it would be wise to test it before pulling the dash apart to replace it
has anyone done something similar before?
Connect it up wiith the carpets out and look for water on the floor!LOL
Regards Philip A
Yep, it will most likely leak onto the floor from under the dash. Mine dripped out near (or maybe within?) the feet heater vents. Just give it a go and make sure your radiator doesn't get too low.![]()
A stench of coolant from a warm heater core is usually a dead giveaway.
connect your garden hose to some 16mm heater hose and then to heater and turn on the tap... connect another to the outlet to kik to hose to allow pressure to build. if it doesnt hold mains pressure it fails.
Coolant will usually leave a white scale around where it leaked. If there is any of it on / around / below the core you will have a leak.
