The stroker engines will probably give more torque. The best bet would be to top hat a stroker engine anyway, although I am not when I stroke my 3.5.
Was wondering what is the best option, stroke the 3.9V8 to either 4.3 or 4.9 (TRS to kits) or fit a top hatted 4.6?
Which will give the most power and importantly most torque?
Which is cheapest?

One advantage of the 4.6 block over the 3.9 is that it has four bolt, cross bolted main bearing caps. The 3.9 does not.

I recall Graeme Cooper telling me MANY years ago that once 4.6 became available they sold them rather than strokers because they had too many comebacks with strokers slipping sleeves.
AFAIR this included 3.5 strokers and 3.9 strokers.

Wouldn't top hatting the stroker engine stop any slipped linners, just like you need to top hat a 4.6?
Anyone got a stroked 3.9???
I was looking at TRS (Triumph Rover Spares) site...some very nice stuff. They are now carrying the TA Performance heads. TA Performance have cast their own HP head. It is said to be on par with the WILDCAT stuff??? At $5900 for a pair of built heads they would want to be trick
Has anyone had experince with TRS? are they value for money? do they do good work?
I doubt there are many around as it is quite a bit cheaper to just get a new 4.6.Wouldn't top hatting the stroker engine stop any slipped linners, just like you need to top hat a 4.6?

And you get all new bits which hopefully will last longer.
Also a 3.9 has a quite weak bottom end compared to a 4.6 and the "fretting main cap " issue is well known on high mileage engines.
