Supercheap Auto Driving Lights: Yay or Nay

Sorry if this is in the wrong section,

Just wondering if any fellow members have SCA driving lights on their vehicles, looking at 2 pairs (4) of Eclipse II lights to go up on a roof rack for both open road and bush use, are these solid lights? at $50 a pair i think they'd be marginal quality, but i have had a pair of smaller ones on my buggy which seem O.K. so if you've had experience i would like to know please, also does anyone know if they are Spread/Spot or what

Looking at having 2 pointing directly forward, then 2 off to the sides to light up roos etc.

I had a set on the roof rack of my old patrol. They were spot or spread, i chose to use spread. not the best quality but considering they were more for extra lighting of the side of the road while the lightforce 240's did their thing. they worked fine. If I did it again I'd use better ones just coz I'm fussy about my landy.

Yeah i have a big set of IPF's on the front bar, these do their high beam thing, i think i'll get a set of spread and a set of pencil if i can then i can light up the road in front slightly wider aswell as point some into the table drains, will also help with visibility offroad and in bad conditions.

i had a set of sca on the top of my bullbar and a pair of big roo lights on the bottom 2 mounts . < wired upto 2 toggle switches > roo lights are great and very strong , the sca lights are great and good value for the money , only downside was going bush or on corrigations the sca lights would always move forward , regardless of how tight they were . so if you can make a bracket to hold them better , then perfect . i took them off last week cos they looked like mickey mouse ears ontop . im going to use them for camp lights on the back door .

i had a pair of sca lights on the top 2 mounts and a pair of roo lights on the bottom 2 mounts on my bull bar . apart from the sca lights leaning forward over corrigations and going bush , no matter how tight they are good lights . maybe make a bracket to stop them moiving . i have taken them though last week cos after 2 yrs , i kept thinking they looked like mickey mouse ears . so im putting them on the spare wheel as camp lights . , but they do work great and if they only lasted 12 months , $40 buks cant be too bad

Had a pair on the wife's Prado. Ended up swapping them out for a set of Narva 225s - best thing I ever did.

The light itself isn't too bad, but that bloody mounting system is enough to drive a sane man nuts!

I had a pair of nitestalkers on my old Patrol (from Supercheap) One was pencil and one was spread. They were pretty good for the price. They had a good write up in one of the 4x4 mags. I replaced them with a set of KC Hilights from the states though which were crazy bright. You can get the KC's pretty cheap including delivery. If I was on a budget again I'd get the KC's over the Nitestalkers and escpecially over SCAs. Another good thing about the KC's is not many people in Australia have heard of them so they are not a thief magnet like Light Forces are.
