    D4 folding mirrors observation

Faultmate was used to disable the auto folding mirrors so they didn't fold on locking but could be folded and unfolded using the door switches. This worked until the mirrors were left folded prior to locking and ever since they have auto folded again. However, folding then unfolding before locking has reset them to not auto fold. I understand the logic but its taken quite a while to stumble onto it.

I had enquired at the Dealer after I had purchased my SDV6 about Disabling the Folding Mirrors. I had wanted this Disable so my Towing Mirrors would not damage the car.
The Dealer told me that the function may be Disabled but does not always stop the function under certain conditions.
So I researched and purchased a different set of Towing Mirrors so they may Fold IN and OUT without damaging the Door, Folding Mirror and Towing Mirrors.

I saw your post NTB. If I have indeed stumbled on the logic then it wouldn't surprise me that a dealer might not know the rules.

    Thumbs down

So, are you saying that perhaps we don't need anything "set" or "unset" to stop them folding Graeme?

Or do we still need something(like Faulmate etc.) first to make the folding stoppable?

I have had switches installed by MLR to make it optional for me. It works for me.

My beef is that there is no definitive answer OFFICIALLY from LRA on why they don't/can't do what the handbook says with this & with Global Closing.
Also, they could, and SHOULD, go back to LR UK & seek an answer or answers .

    Regards,

    Les.

I've used Faultmate to change the factory setting, which I suspect is the same change that dealers can make. I need to do some more testing to ensure that what appears to be the trigger continues to work as it has. I could then temporarily re-instate the original setting to verify that the procedure doesn't work with the factory setting as I cannot be sure that I tried the sequence with the original setting.

I can understand that consistently folding upon locking would be the LR preferred option but if that I seemed to have uncovered holds true, it should be properly documented in the manual so that people can request the change if they want it, or better still, change it themselves. However I think the set/unset procedure is simple enough that it should be available without having to change a setting in the CCF.

I thought global closing was not allowed in Australia although I haven't been particularly following discussions as we don't drive with windows down.
