11.00 x 16's
I have recently acquired some michelin 11.00 x 16's and don't have a use for them, does anyone know what sort of vehicles this size of tire came out on?
They are too big and heavy for my liking so trying to find the best way of finding interested buyers.

Check the sidewall for the load, ply, and speed ratings. This might give a clue to their usage. That is a bloody big tyre for 16". Trucks didn't use much over 8.25 x 16 to my recollection. That was the defining tyre size for "under 4 tons" in the days when this mattered. Maybe for low loaders if they are automotive tyres. What tread pattern?

There are 2 "XL"(40% remaining), 4 "XZL"(80% remaining) and 6 retread road/sand pattern(from 30-100% remaining).
From what I can find on the net they are military tires for something american I guess, they weigh approx 100 lbs each. 11" wide, 38.5" tall.
I do recall a prototype land rover forward control which ran this size tyre in LRO quite a few years ago, can't remember what it was called though. It was bigger than the 101 and FC109's.

Found it, they called it the 2 tonne forward control and the 129" also had the option to run these tires as well.
The dodge power wagon seems to be the one that the yanks fit 11.00's to instead of 9.00's.

At the risk of having to repeat myself to be understood, what is on the sidewalls as per my earlier post. Make and country of origin would also be of help.

I'd love a set of these for the project I'm working on, the going rate for 11.00x16 Michelins is anywhere from £1500-£2000 a set.
I suspect getting them to the UK from Aus would be prohibitively expensive though?

Brian,
Went and had a look at them today as they're not at my house, they are made in france but couldn't make out date of manufacture.
Load rating of 4805 lbs at 90 psi yet another one says 80 psi.

Date codes on michelins tend to be a 4 digit code, usually marked on one side only.
I can't remember how they translate, but it gives month and year of production.

I have seen 11.00x16s on WW2 Dodge WC 6x6s prepared for desert operations, probably ex Israely military as they kept these vehicles in service for many years and just kept rebuilding them.
