    Rear Spring shackles

    Hi all,

I'm facing a dilemma which I'm sure most Landy owners have come across more than once. Rusted bolts.

The rear spring shackles bolts on the LHS of my SIIA have rusted to the shackles and the crush tubes inside the bushes.

I have tried multiple approaches to removing these bolts. A BFH, a big pry bar, lots of heat. Next I'm hoping using an angle grinder and cutting through the bolts will sort it all out.

If I cannot get access to a grinder is there an other approaches I can try out?

    Cheers, Sean

Sean, when you say heat do you mean LPG or oxy-acetylene?

With enough heat you will burn the rubber bush.

Then by cutting off the nut or head of the bolt you can drive the rest of the bolt out attached to the inner bush.

That leaves you the lovely job of getting out the outer bush.
