Hydraulic Winch

Anyone have a hydraulic winch fitted to their Landie.
if so, what brand please. I have checked out the Mile Marker brand and the Runva brand. any info regarding your set-up would be appreciated. Lookin a PTO driven pump set-up (Maxi-Drive).

I had a couple mates run Superwinch Husky hydraulic winches back in the UK. They used to be connected to the power steering pump and they worked very well. Just very expensive...

I have a Mile Maker running off a MD pto with cross hyd pump. System is designed to flow 60ltr/min. I have a 12v solinoide control valve with a simple push button cable remote. I had a double over center valve fitted directly to the winch motor as these winches have no brake, which is ok until you loose fluid! I am very happy with the system. The only bad comment on the winch is the powder coating is blistering off the cast alloy housing. Resivour holds approx 20ltr's and has in tank filters. System runs through a proper spin on filter. Pressure relief valve is set for stall load.

and very slow, because the output of a PAS pump is much lower than the output of most regular hydraulic pumps.

You also run the risk of wearing out the seals in the PAS pump quicker and having a failure when out in the bush still with the drive home ahead of you.

and most like this are fitted with a valve so you can not winch AND steer....

warrior winches do hydraolic ones as well, i run one of there electric winches and it is awesome! they are only new to the Australian market..

They all do them. I have a 12000lb Ramsey on one Forward Controll and a 12000lb Thomas on the other all with PTO hyd pumps.
Dont muck about with toy PAS drives. Try Google.

There are a few differences though. Are those Thomas and Ramsey of yours worm wheel type with a hyd motor fitted to the drive shaft instead of it being pto shaft driven? The most common hyd winches are planetry gear train. I would be interested in knowing the gear ratio on the 2 you have and what line speed they are at what flow rate. What pressure do they run at?
