    camping fridge help

Hope this the right forum. I'm in sunny north qld and to help my Domestic three way fridge to work more efficent on gas im fitting two 80 mm 12v rated 0.10 amp fans to the vents. My fridge works on heat absorbtion. So im running one fan on the bottom vent ( pulling) and the top vent pushing. im thinking of running an independant battery ( motorcycle type) and trickle charging it during the day with a small over the counter solar panel. Anyone have a best guess if this setup would work and what size solar panel would be best. ( read cheapest size) I run a generator to charge the van battery once a day so i want a split system. Baz

Well, most 12V computer type fans use 150mA to 200mA, and yours use even less at 100mA, so it won't take a very big solar panel to keep them going. Probably get yourself the smallest one you can and it will do the job. Someone like JayCar or Dick Smith will have something suitable.

You might like to send a PM to DriveSafe, as he is the resident AULRO electical guru and will likely have a proper answer.

    Cheers

Make sure you get obsessive about leveling your vehicle both ways if stationary for more than 20 minutes. I learnt the hard way.

What others say about panels and fans.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
