			Boost hose

Just towed my van from the hunter valley to Bright in VIc today. With my 2011 defender. It has done 6,000 odd km faultlessly, well in defender terms anyway. However today it blew the boost hose off the turbo twice. The second time may have been cause by the fact that at 5.30am in dark on the side of the F3 I was more concerned for my life than getting the clamp on straight. All seems fine know, interestingly no engine lights even during complete lose of boost under load. Has anyone had this issue and did it cause anymore issues further down the track?

There is some similar storeys around, particularly near new D’fers, apparently the problem is as simple as the factory not tightening the clamps up.

You shouldn't have any more prob's once you get them it right position and nice and tight.

I had the hose blow of my intercooler end, but that was my fault as I was the one that put the hose on, it lasted about 3 months before blowing and I looked at it the other day and it has moved again, I feel though if I tighten the hose clamp any further it will break, so after reading a few forums I got one of those stainless steel T clamps to put on.

But when it came off you are correct, no lights came on or anything, just the noise of it coming off then loss of power.

I've found that the hoses (Disco2) will slide until the hose clamp presses against the lip/bump on the pipe and then it stops, so it needs to be tight enough to not slip over that and it needs to be after that, not on it.

Yeah turbo hose came off just a week after getting the car in Feb.Lots a noise and no power....also engine light came on. Was giving the car some at the time! Put hose back on but still light on and lack of power. So rang Landrover assist to take car back to Lance Dixon a day or two later. Funnily enough power was normal when putting the car onto the truck, light still on though.
All good now, in fact, touch wood, nothing else to report. Love the 90!

Same thing happened to me with 137km on the clock, hose clamp came loose and blew off. The check engine light came on, I refitted the hose on the side of the road but couldnt extinguish the C/E light, so we had to flat top it back the dealers. There comment was " o'h yeah, we've had a couple of these do that now" my response was " well, if you've seen a couple do it, its not as though you hundreds of these go through here, why dont you have a quick look as you can see it's not on right just by looking at it" took them two hrs to rectify it and put me 5hrs behind on a 12 hr trip. Other than that, its now 6 weeks old with 7200km on the clock and going like a train.

 Cheers Ian

Yes this has also happened to me.
No engine light come on just a loud noise and lack of power.
A few colurful words every time i burned my hand while being ****ed on by rain half way between Kumarina and Meekatharra.

 All good know.

It is common on earlier Pumas too. Found this after a routine check of the engine bay.

The jubilee clip was loose enough for me to move the hose up and down on the flange. Once repositioned and tightened it has not moved.

I will be replacing the OEM hoses with Samco XDB Boost Hoses once I am out of warranty.

I will also replace the jubilee clips with these ones from Mikalor.
