24v to 12v

Hi, i need to install a 12v CD player into an Isuzu NPR 300, which is 24v.

Does anyone know if the Isuzu has a 12v output/wire under the dash, ive heard that some systems do for these type of things, or should i use a converter or possibly just run a fused cable from one of the batteries?

I haven't had a chance to test with a multi meter yet, will be doing the install tomorrow.

there are bigger versions but so far one of those has been able to drive a 2x40w car stereo with no major dramas if the module is kept cool (<50degC)

Im guessing a NPR 300 is more than 10 year old without comon rail engine?.if so it should not have a 12V supply unless it has a non genuine radio.

the later models often have 12V supplies.sometime cig power out lets..rare to be over 10 amp.

running a radio-phone-two way I found you need a 10-15 amp unit to stop it crashing when you transmitwhe also changed the cig lighter in case they dont have multivoltage extras..

cheepest way is wire from the link lead and AUX switch with relay-dont forget to continue the battery wire to the memory circuit.
if your pulling decent currect you need to fit a voltage balancer [same load on the second battery.

the 24 to 12V units normally have big capacitors internally.
when working on the earth wire on the battery they ark bigtime.you may want to earth switch the unit.

Ive jamed a 15 amp unit behind the glovebox tied to the a/c ducting.doesnt get hot.
normally we mount these outside-our smaller isuzu vehicles are all crew cabs so the only area is above the battery.
the bigger units have over heat fans.
