Fishing the Murray (near swan hill vic)
I've been staying in Nyah close to Swan Hill lately playing football down here and I have recently started fishing on the river. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for catching yella belly. I'm finding it hard to catch anything at all lately.
I've been told to use a cocktail on worm and yabbies in back flow.
Cheers,
Goots.

Its a little late for yellows now, go buy yourself a shrimp net and put some off meat scraps as bait that'll get you a cod or silver perch. As the winter gets closer the cod are starting to ramp up their feeding so big scrubbies and Shrimp cocktails are the go.

I should clarify, use the off meat in the shrimp net to catch shrimp to use as bait to catch the cod

Oh ok cheers,
But can I ask what a big scrubby is? Also do you fish for them in still water, back flow or in the middle at the bottom?
I'm hardly a fisherman yet.
Apparently the Redfin are good eating too?
Cheers,
Goots

Big Scrubbies= Big Scrub Worm, fishing the backwater with a big Scrubbie should yield some good results especially after its been raining, although too much rain and the water will be dirty and can affect the fish. Soo many variables...lol
Can also use spinner baits (lure) which I've had success on catching good size Cod. But I always use fresh Shrimp caught in a shrimp net they work great, and Redfin are a fantastic eating fish very underrated in my book.
