Defender H4 upgraded bulbs original from LR

VPLDV0061 - Legal Xenon bulb upgrade
Noticed that on LR Australia website just the same as on all LR websites here in Europe they now offer as acccessory a set of "Xenon" bulbs to use in the existing H4 lamp units on a Defender 2007 onward. Seems a fully road legal replacement for standard H4 bulbs. Link is attached.

No doubt it still is a filament bulb filled with Xenon gas, otherwise it could never be road legal I think.
The question is, does anybody have bought them already, and are they indeed a H4 bulb with a much higher light output and a better spread? And is the light not too blue?
Does anybody know if these VPLDV0061 coded H4 bulbs are actually made by Philips, Osram, PIAA, maybe just one of those companies' upgraded bulbs sold with a LR label? Which one would it then be?
    Tks, Eric

Xenon is of course one of the halogen gases, no news there, just rebranding. Most bulb manufacturers make halogen bulbs with different colour rendering, I have the Osram "+80" ones myself, they are fine. I can't see how land Rover would use anything other than a major brand.

Have you done the Traxide wiring loom ?
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Phillips +100's for me in a 2012 90. . huge improovement. with older Defenders seems the Loom is to blame, mass voltage drop between power source and the globe.
(as the above comment mentions, try otu a traxide wiring look upgrade)

It would seem all LR continue the fine tradition of British electrical design, that was almost perfected in Jaguar, so yes,. If nothing else your headlight switch won't burn out. Traxide site very informative.

PAT303 be careful with that upgrade.

I was on Bribie Island heading on to the beach & got pulled over by RTA, they need to check my head lights for non model up grades.
I was running the Philips +50 with the blue ring must have court his eye.
Non model up grade would be worth $130 each side

I was thinking of doing the same until that day.

    Cheers

I have truck lite phase 7 on mine which have been there for a year. No hassles from rta or police so far. Even had my Rego inspection yesterday and the guy commented on the head lights being weird and broken into two halves.
    He passed it.
I will say it is important to aim them correct though.
Early on I received a few flashes from oncoming cars so re aimed them a touch lower. No more flashes.
Didn't want to bring attention to myself by irritating an oncoming police car with lights in their eyes.
