Jessica Douglas, and Jason English WEMBO 24 hr Champions

A good friend of ours, Forrest's Jessica Douglas has defended her solo world champion position in Italy with an emphatic win.
Jess led early from the start making a 5 minute gap over her rivals early in the race. As the day continued she had taken her lead over her nearest rivals American Nicki Cotter and Megan Dimozantis out to 45 minutes.
While this was still a commanding lead a win was not guaranteed so she headed out for a final lap to seal her place with 19 laps, Ricki Cotter however failed to make it back into transition before the exit gate closed leaving Jess to win by a lap and 30 odd minutes.
Fellow Australian Jason English after completing an amazing 22 laps of the same fast but technical circuit has also successfully defended his world champion position with an stand out one lap win over nearest rivals Jason Miles and Englishman Craig Bowles, (I think this is something like 5 straight now for Jason)

Great work! ....a mate of mine came 3rd in the Atlanta World 24 Hr XC Championships some years ago now....and I know what he went through, cos I helped him train....it blows me away what these guys and girls can do.

Me - I like to ride for 2 hours - then drink beer.

Two of my friends also won their classes at the event. Rachael Edwards won the Female 35 - 39 year category and Matt Powell won the Men's Single Speed class. This is them just after the race. Rach looks ready to go again - Matt looks like someone who has just ridden a single speed around an Italian track with a lot of hills for 24 hours. Both of them are great people and tough as nails.

Jason English has passed me many times....on many races, v quick rider, can't for the life of me work out how to keep legs pumping for 24hrs in a race, and at the speed they do it, on my last race, my fastest lap was 5 minuets off his slowest...i did 8 laps, he did something like 25...

mind you , i'm an over 40 Clydesdale who rides a couple of times a week...

Scallops, I am with you, A couple of six hours a year and the Otway Odyssey will do me........then beer
Dave_s she definitely is too chipper and I think he looks about what I would expect , especially for a single speeder (nuts)
Ray, same category and I probably train about the same amount as you I think

. I've done a couple of 24's in a team of four and I think that's enough ,I don't think I am that dedicated. Jess reckons solo is easier as you don't have to wait around. She had a total of 8 minutes of the bike in 24 hrs
