    Freelander 2 Key problem

Ok, my first problem with the Freelander 2...one of the remotes has stopped working. It will not open the car. A bit of research tells me that you cannot change the battery in them as there isn't one. Can anyone absolutely confirm that....Scouse?? Anyway, I hear a new one is up near $700. I have the extended warranty but they tell me it isn't covered. Personally I feel that 3 1/2 years from a key with non replaceable batteries is not acceptable, in fact I think a remote without batteries is a damn stupid idea, especially when you have to enter via the passenger door with the manual key which sets the alarm off EVERY SINGLE TIME

G'day Mike, long time no see.

How long since you've used the second Key?

They charge as you drive, as you probably know. I swap the keys periodically to keep up the charge.

I wasn't aware the internal battery is not replaceable. If it's not holding a charge I think I'd try one of the Ebay replicas before forking out $700...

    G'day Max,
It has been a while. The key that doesn't work is the one I use all the time. I just did a 1000km trip with it on the weekend but it still won't open the car. I heard that LR programming the key is what costs a fair bit of the money

The funniest one was my wife was stuck the other night and the only button that worked was the back tail gate. She unlocked it and crawled in over the top of everything Unfortunately I missed the spectacle but she let me have one of her own afterwards...

OK, an update. I bought an $8 dollar battery, split the fob, soldered it in and glued the fob back together. Works perfectly.
