You probably know that indicators were not a standard part on most S1. The most common retrofit is the Lucas 594 with the amber dome lens and a single filament, although some people use a clear dome lens and a double filament for side and flasher (white flashers are permitted on a pre ADR vehicle like the Series 1)

If you want similar for the rear but don't want to drill the large hole required, you can fit an aftermarket L594/flat which uses a festoon globe. Check some have a plastic lens, but you can get the glass L594 lens as a spare part.

BTW the side lamps of the 1954-58 were L489 - which are similar to the L488 but had a wider stainless bezel as can be seen by the first image.

In fact the double contact side/flasher (stop/tail) bub holder assembly for all the L488/L489/L594 lamps can be fitted into the L489 to keep the original appearence.
