Specialist item you need to get from O/S. I got mine from UK can't remember where now. Google is your fiend.
Hi All,
I'm planning on replacing the factory head unit and would like to find a wiring harness rather than cut the plugs off. Does anyone know where I can get one? I would prefer to buy from Aus if possible and LR to Sony would be a bonus!
Thanks in advance!

Low line is easy to replace. If you replace the high line one you will lose some sterring wheel menu functionality.
Some have rewired the OEM head unit to behind the side panel in the boot to keep functionality (and clock) and put in new head unit and amp.
Presto are you talking about a D3 or D4?
Yes, sorry should have made that clear, it is for a D3 SE (not premium sound).
I'm planning on installing one of these: XAV-701BT : Mobile Display : Xplod™ In Car Visuals : Sony Australia which is ordered waiting delivery.
The std stereo has been tripping out once a week for some time. I have to pull it out and leave it unplugged for 10 seconds to reset it. It seems I only lose the clock whilst it's tripped, with no other functionality affected!? ....but having said that, I'm not sure I've checked with the unit completely unplugged.
I've bought one of these: ($69) Aerpro FP8090 Landrover Facia - FP8090 to get a nice fit, so just need the harness to start playing!

Presto - I assume your standard system is the 6 stacker version with steering wheel controls?
If so when you replace your radio you will loose the clock option in the dash car computer display. You will need to ensure that the steering wheel controls will work with the radio but you also need the steering wheel controls to change settings in the dash computer display and these work through the original radio as the clock does. Not such an issue it you have the computer set up as you want but will cause issues if you want to change things later.
As some mentioned leaving the original radio still connected but stored in the back or under a seat stills allows this functionality. If I was going to do this on my car I would set up a socket system so the old radio could be plugged in somewhere to make adjustments to the cars systems.

Hi Garry,
Thanks for the info.
The Std Stereo is the poverty spec, so no stacker and no steering controls. I'm thinking of just living without the clock, although I can't help but wonder about the rocket science involved to use a random digital clock!? Where are all the rocket scientists when you need them!?
The Head Unit has arrived, and the outer mounting frame is too big for the plastic facia!....not sure if I just trim it to fit!? One of the guys from our club has been through something similar, so I'll ask him to comment!
More info coming soon hopefully!

Hey Presto,
Finally managed to find the email from the mob I bought my facia kit and wiring harness off - Nexxia Audio Solutions.
I got a PC2-81-4, Jaguar Harness adaptor for 4.30 GBP back in 2009 along with a DFPK-29-02, Range Rover Sport for 33.87 GBP.
From memory I cut the non-lr plug off the harness and soldered it up to the cable that came with my Pioneer head-deck. You also need a converter for your antenna cable or do what I did and don't bother.
