General Grabbers are certainly available just about everywhere in Aust (certainly major population centres) - Jax is one of the many suppliers - so is Tyrepower.

Hi guys, It coming to that stage of life when my Disco 3 will soon require new tyres after reading lots of post / threads from different forums, Im still not the wiser on which is a good replacement for my Disco3. A lot of owners talk about General Grabber AT2 255/60R18, but these unable to be obtain then in Australia, and if you do import them from USA yourself, what warranty would there be. So back Toyo, Pirelli, Bridgestone, etc.
I assume it still comes on how much you want to pay, warranty, and then noise / ride.
Thanks
Robert

Hey Robert,
there are plenty of threads on here re tyres for D3/4's etc and every one has their own experiences, likes and dislikes.
Personally I'm very happy with the new Cooper AT3's, they are reasonably priced, handle well, are quite on road and have a fairly aggressive thread pattern for a A/T for off road work.
I have fitted the 265/60/18's to mine in preference to the smaller standard size.
Good luck with sorting through the many options.
cheers,
Terry

There is lots of stock of the 255/60/18 GGAT2
Can you clarify something for me - GG published information on the AT/AT2 implies the AT is a replacement for the AT2 and that the AT is a marginally better AT tyre even though visually the tread looks less aggressive.
However the AT2 continues to be sold along side the AT at about the same price. So is the AT a replacement? If not, why would they sell two supposed "equal" tyres in the same segment or is it that there is just so much stock of the AT2 still around that they are still being marketed in the same segment.
Cheers
Garry

In the usa they like the GGAT2 to much so they may be rethinking of keeping the AT2 . The AT tyre is classed as a mud and snow pattern as well as the AT2 is just a at tyre....
They are costs are not the same i just do the best costing as i can on all tyres as they make to much coin on retail sails..

						Hi All,
So over the Good Year Wranglers. Great in sand apparently - but I'm rarely in it. So, have just put a new set of GG (AT) 255/60/R18's on the 2008 D3 SE.
Boof @ Tyrepower Camberwell more than looked after me. I'd have to say the customer service, attention to detail & LR knowledge was exceptional. Mention the AULRO connection & he can help @ $265 a corner.
Will certainly review these tyres out on the black top & in more challenging conditions when I get there. So far, at lower speeds (up to 80kmph) on the black top I simply can't hear them.
For a relatively budget priced tyre, I'm looking forward to seeing what these shoes are like.
I've been very happy with my AT2s, 50k and looking to replace soon, but still easily legal and have been ok for noise, you get a little but only with the radio off, good in the wet and haven't found them wanting in the moderate rough, not outstanding in mud, but then no AT really is.
I have the Continental Cross Contact A/T on mine in the 255/60 R18.
I think I have something like 40,000km on them and they have plenty of tread left and have been great on and off road.
Not loud and certainly no issue at highway speed with windows up etc.
George

I'm in a similar situation with my D4 TDV6. Have decided that the best course of action is probably to go to 265/60 18 which provides extra choice.
