check engine light

My P38a spluttered to a halt after driving only 500 metres from cold, and the check engine light came on. Gas or petrol, makes no difference, it will turn over but not fire. The oil level was a bit low, and I was going up a hill. Towed it home and topped up the oil (on level ground) but still won't start. Any suggestions?

You should be able to get Engine fault codes from a generic OBD2 scanner

Are you getting fuel to the injectors? ( fuel pump?)

It's a 1997 HSE, duel fuel. I tried starting it on LPG but still no joy, so I don't think it is fuel. I'm wondering if low oil pressure might have triggered an engine shutdown and now it needs fault codes cleared.

Apologies... I was through Dimboola in my 95 GEMS HSE last week... could have used my Faultmate to troubleshoot your issue.

I think you might have some success with a Generic OBD2 Scaner.. but obviously Nanocom/Faultmate would be best..

Thanks BC. Where can one get a faultmate, or similar? I'm wondering if I disconnect the battery then re-connect it to see if it 're-sets' the computer. I'm still wondering if it was a low oil issue.

If its an engine related issue you should be able to get codes from any OBD2 reader as its a standard code on all vehicles. I think that the gems cars have a valve on the fuel rail where you can get a quick test for fuel pressure.
Some LPG systems start on petrol before cutting over to gas.
