    Window Tinting

    Howdy all,

I did a quick search and couldn't find anything on window tinting on a D4. I am looking to get my MY12 D4 windows tinted, but the film is your typical metallic based film. I assume the radio aerial is the rear side glass, so was just wondering if anyone has had any issues with metallic tint.

I spoke with the tinting guy and he said his car (not a D4, but same concept with aerial) had no problems with radio reception. He said it can be hit an miss, but so far has not had many D4's through so can;t really be sure. He is more than happy to change the film at no cost if I have issues.

    Anyone got any feedback?

    Thanks

    Dan

I have the windows tinted on my Black D4. I have had no issues.

I've been told the tint shops use a non-metallic film on the windows with the aerial.

I asked the tint guy about the non-metallic tint, but he is happy to use the same tint on all windows and if there is a problem with the reception he will swap them over at no cost. I'm prepared to take the chance because I really want the same tint all round.

    Cheers

Had my D4 done 2 1/2 years ago by Top Tint.
It was a Bolle film in the darkest legal tint.
No problems at all with radio reception.

Mine has metallic tint, radio works great. I live in the country, and drive to melb each week. I get all the stations a good hour to hour half out of the city, and that's real good even in stock trim with no tint and a bloody good Ariel on any car I've had in the past.

Even my gps (factory fit) drops out less than my garmin.

Love the thought of a 500cc single cylinder Indian manufactured motorbike mounted on a car...

Exclamation Beware - Thread hijack in progress

So on the subject of tinting, any recommendations, particularly out Berwick way (Victoria)?

I see the Tint Professor has a number of negative reviews, but was taken over by TOSSA in 2010. Personal experience with TOSSA was poor, so that counts out Tint Professor.

I see one mention of Tint-a-car, one of Top Tint (too far ).

Would like to get the D4 done in the next week or so.
