LPG installer - older single point gas system

Having trouble finding a solution for a LPG installation.

Im in Sydney and will go anywhere to get an install done by an installer who has LR experience.

I have a 1998 Discovery 1 which is low in kms and otherwise in excellent condition.

KLR Autos at Kingswood no longer do installs on cars / 4wds, only big stuff.
Graham Cooper Autos at Petersham will only install the sequential gas system at $5700. Thats more than my Disco is worth.
    Davis Performance Landys, similar.

Looking for an installer who can install the older single point gas system who has done LRs and can ensure a good result with no backfiring.
So, anybody who is happy with their installation - please let me know.

Most backfiring issues with D1's have little to do with the set-up of the gas system, it is more influenced by plugs, leads, ignition timing, ignition amplifiers and coils, all things you can address separately. I have advised on a few single point installs interstate, pm me your phone number or email if you want a chat.

Hi Gooner, Modern Motors in Dungog have extensive experience with "Gastek" installations and are a very good Land Rover Garage. They used to be LR dealers until recently, when smaller dealers were discarded by LRA.Their phone number is 49921486. Hope this is helpful. Dungog is about an hour from the end of the Sydney-Newcastle Freeway.Cheers, 130man.

Converting the D1 is not particularly hard under the bonnet, especially as the 3.9 does not seem to have a closed loop engine control system ie no oxygen sensor. Later D2 built to comply with Euro 2 is a bit different but that is not your issue. As previously stated ignition spark is your key as it takes more energy to fire gas.

I have used Rob Cowan at The Gas Man in Alexandria for over ten years on a number of cars including old carb Rangie but I know he has done plenty of D1 mixer systems. I am a great fan of Impco systems on open loop.

Plenty on this forum who can give you help but pm me if you need any more info.

Old Rangie. (Now with 98 D1 as well as 84 Rangie)
