Mark,
Dunno - but I thought you were a L series diehard.

OK Guys,
What sort of mileage are you lot getting out of your TD4s and what sort of issues have you had??
The reason being is that I'm thinking of getting a cheap TD4 auto but it has 208,000 miles (300,000km) on the clock... Hence why it is cheap. I know plenty about the drive train, so I'm happy with that but what I'm not sure about is the engine at that mileage.
So, what have you guys had out of them??
M

Indeed, apologies for being off-line for a bit... I've been rather busy and not enough time to keep up with everything. However, I've got a bit of down time now, so I thought I'd better do some catching up.
The 'L' is still there, going strong but I'm trying to take it off the road so I can restore it. The mechanical side of things has been done, I now need to get the paintwork sorted.
I recently purchased an XJ Jeep (Cherokee Orvis - 4.0 Auto) for the missus to tootle around in but she doesn't like it. A mate is getting rid of his TD4 Auto, chucking it in as a trade-in on a FL2 but has offered it out at the trade-in price... I'm tempted, it is HSE spec but has 300,000km on the clock!
So there you go.

My brothers TD4 auto has 280000km on it and still goes strong.
They must be the strongest engine ever built , because he hasn't killed it yet. He has killed indestructible engines previously (Diesel Gemini, Daihatsu Charade, Subaru Leone and Toyota Camry)
