trannie double flush

was quoted around $2000 for a double flush by garage on a 2005 Disco 3 with about 80,000 - guy seemed to know his stuff. Is this a reasonable amount to pay?

It sounds way expensive, I'll ask a private LR workshop I go to in the inner west how much for a double flush and a steel pan instead of the throw away plastic pan and let you know.

Got mine done in Perth full flush + steel pan and filter $1200 . dont let them tell you the trans lifegaurd fluid is $70-80 a ltr , you can get the fluid fron ZF transmitions themselves for $35 ltr , takes about 12/13 ltrs for full flush . Al

With 80,000ks I would just order a drum of oil from ZF and change the oil a few times.. If you have ever changed Diff oil before its the same with the gearbox. The manual tells you to check it upto a certain temp, but using hawkeye the oil temp is within spec for the first 4-5 minutes of start-up..

The choice is yours, but I changed mine at 79,000ks and the pan and filter as well, but if had my time again I would just have changed the oil only.

Just my 2c worth.

It will soon be time to change the oil in my D4. I too am thinking of only doing the oil, not seeing any advantage of changing the pan and filter.
