EGR failure.Does seem to happen earlier in cold climes.

Yesterday spouse complained that the D3 was very sluggish until it warmed up. So today I drove to work on a brisk Canberra morning and the car drove as per normal.
Unfortunately, this afternoon as I was leaving work it was very difficult to get the car moving. I tried driving my welly through the floor, command mode etc and only after a lot of coaxing would it slowly come up to traffic speed. 5km down the road you'd never know there'd been a problem. I guess the temp gauge was near to normal. I guess the closest I can describe the problem is like a petrol car without a choke, but no stuttering.
I connected the OBD reader and it returned an error code of P045C which Google describes as 'Exhaust Gas Recirculation "B" Control Circuit Low', which of course doesn't mean a lot to me.
So, before I call the dealer, any tips? Do I clear the code and see what happens? Anything else?
After the air compressor drama, I think Alianz will rue the day the gave me an extended warranty.
Cheers
Bob

Bob - you have EGR failure - I have just been through all this - your symptoms are typical where the EGR has locked in an open position so exhaust is going into the intact all the time hence the sluggishness.
Tote - driving to and from Yass each day has not had EGR issues in over 200,000km where us suburban peoples sitting in city traffic get their EGRs to fail in less than 80,000km. I would expect that your Engine Management Light should be on but then again maybe not.
Your extended warranty should cover it (or did you use it all up when up north). The issue is that they will go again in about another 70,000km. When you get your new EGRs I would consider getting a BAS blanking kit and your car will run better. I just left the U/S Egrs in place and only connected the new ones to the wiring system and not to the exhaust. Works fine and no EGR faults.

The car's in the shop, so we'll see how we go. Garry I'll chat next week about options for blanking.
I'm having this sluggish power on startup, I have to really give it some to get up our driveway, it is fairly steep though, but if we warm the car up for around 2 to 3 minutes, it is a lot better.
Could this be the EGR, we haven't had any lights come on and as far as we know no faults have appeared on the computer when we had the car serviced.
Can we check the airflow on the faultmate like you can on the Nanocom with the D2??
Baz.

Well sports fans, I got the Disco back from the dealer a couple of days ago after replacement of the EGRs. All covered under extended warranty, so very pleased with that. The car seems to be going very well since, so much so that even the spouse noticed. I don't know if I should expect better performance from replacing EGRs, but nevertheless, it seems to have happened.
It's now back to the D3 I know and love.
