    D3 Service and Extended Warranty - Good news story for a change

    Hi Guys,

    Very much a lurker on here to garner plenty of good information.

    Seeing as I have read a heap of woah is me stories regarding reliability and issues I thought I would put up my experiences with our D3 and Southern Landrover in Perth.

    From the begining.

    We had been looking for a D3 for a few years and having been brought up on Range Rover classics and Jeeps as a kid I loved the Landrover brand (despite some very interesting malfunctions with both brands - highlight had to be the Lucas electrics spontaniously combusting behind the dash of RR Classic while driving!)

    Anyway we found a 2008 D3 with low km's at Southern landrover at a great price and bought it - as part of the deal they threw in an extended warranty at a good price- now I have never paid for an extended warranty as most if not all in my experience have been rubbish. But hey it was a good deal so I gave it a crack.

    After coming onto this site I saw a number of posts about extended warranties not worth using as toilet paper, poor dealer service and I thought "oh well here we go just flushed that money"

    Anyway after a year or so of ownership I can happily say that the dealer service has been fantastic and warranty claims great.

    So far we have had the following done;

    Replace Airbag compressor
    Replace O2 sensor _ this one took a while to diagnose but all fixed up

    Currently being done;
    Replace Ball Joints front
    Replace control arms and bushes - Front

    And not at our request but found during regular service;
    Replace front transfer seal as it is leaking
    Replace LH front windscreen trim as it is warped

    Some people might moan that this points to not being very reliable but ALL cars have things go wrong esecially buying 2nd hand and I am very impressed with the service and zero hassle of having the car serviced and repaired inclusive of warranty claims.

    So as said previously big Kudos to the Dealer and Allianz for making it completley painless and showing that good customer service can go a long way.

    So now if I could just figure out how to get reliable brake globes I would be a very happy man

    great to hear scary, this is in stark contrast to another bloke who posted a similar story. Refreshing to get a positive and reasonable perspective.
    Cheers,

    Yes, Allianz warranty is worth a lot more than the bytes it's written in.

    I think I am reasonable about it having owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee prior to the Disco - now they drive you insane beacuse even after they are fixed they still drive like a boat in a storm.

    My main passion is motorsport and modified cars (mainly subaru's) so I guess I am accepting that things just wear out or break over time, especially when you mess with them.

    So I picked up the car last night - paid for the std service and I am very happy!

    All of the above work done + Trim at the bottom of the windscreen replaced as they found some water in the AC vents.

    No more clunks over speed humps, gearbox working like a dream.

    List of works definatley included replacment ball joints and control arm bushes.

    Hey they even replaced the tail light globes for no cost.

    Cannot complain about the service!

    Scary

    I've become a bit of a fanboi of the extended warranty in recent times myself. A recovery from the Cape and air compressor repair and most recently, replacement of the EGRs. No bleats at all and worth every cent I paid for it.

    Cheers

    Bob
