Difference between 2007 and 2010 defender

As per my earlier post, I'm planning on getting a 130. I'm currently considering 2 vehicles, one is a 2007 model that is in NSW and the other is a 2010 model that is not far from me in Vic. About $10k difference between the 2 by the time I have done the necessary mods to either one for my purposes. That's a big difference to me and even bigger to SWMBO.
I just spoke to a bloke from a NRMA inspection place and he tells me that there are major engine differences between the 2 year models that make the later vehicle a much more attractive proposition. I know nothing of this. Can anyone shed some more light on this? I currently have the vendor of the 2007 car- who is selling it for his boss- investigating what recalls have been completed on the vehicle.

I think ol mate from NRMA is getting confused with a TD5 and a Tdci. I am unaware of any differace in 2.4 Tdci motors 07-11, and have not read anything either.
The 2010 will still have a bit of warranty on it. And on average should have 30 to 45k less km on it. Otherwise one man might believe his truck is worth more or less than another.

He was definitely talking about differences in the 4 cylinder Ford-derived motor, such as changes to valve timing and porting. I'd be very interested to know how significant these changes might be.

PUMA/TDCI 2007 to 2011(early) have exactly the same motor 2.4 Duratorque Ford motor and gearbox. Minor differences like a new style vacuum pump exist, that's it.

Somewhere in 2011 (late) they went to the 2.2 Duratorque, virtually same motor, less capacity - same KW's and NM's - Euro 5 compliant. Still the same gearbox.

Other than the motor, the ABS system change in late 2010 from Wabcoe to (not sure) but it operated on all 4 wheels independantly as apossed to front and rear (something like that).

Thats all I've got, but besides a few minor things it is the same truck.
