Around 720 for my 3.0 but not today where its heading for 600 after towing a trailer with a tarped cage at 100-105kph into a good head wind in undulating terrain.

    No such luck!

    720k's I wish!

I seem to average around 640km out of a tank of fuel in my D4 3.0l or 10.5L per 100km. I travel around 125km each work day. Most of this is highway kms at around the 110km/h mark. The vehicle is running well and does everything as it should. Its due a service (health check) shortly so I think I will now ask about fuel consumption!

SDV6 40km each way to and from work. Best 820 km, routinely 760km. Best readout was 5.8 l/100km which when adjusted equals 6.8l/100km (42mpg).
I'm happy with that. No normal car I owned or drove in the 70's or 80's ever came remotely close, mind you I was living in London but even trying hard in an Austin 1300 35mpg was as good as it got! Escort XR3i 28mpg, Cortina(Mk2) 1600E 20-25 mpg. So not bad for 2.5 tonnes and 3.0 litres and 2 turbo chargers!

What do you mean when you say the adjusted figure is 6.8l/100km? I.e. how is it derived?

What do you mean by "around 110", LGM? I read in the GOE booklet that the D4 gets really thirsty when average speeds go over 100kph. Haven't got mine yet so can't speak from experience.

Nick, I would say Paul is referring to the true reading as the D4 readout is set deliberately ambitious (read misleading).

    Around 110

JamesH when I travel to and from work I set the cruise control at 114km/h indicated speed. I have on the odd occasion been travelling in convoy with friends and they have told me that I was in fact travelling at approximatley 110km/h even though I had the usual 114km/h set.

The local constabulary don't even give me a second glance when I pass them at my indicated 114km/h.

    Broadly I assume a 4% speedo error at 110km/h.

I also run a log book for my car and have detailed fuel records and it is from these figures that I have calculated my fuel use at 10.5L per 100km. The car has 37,000km on the clock and is doing everything as it should. The cars trip computor shows 10.6L per 100km average.

As for the speed, I am not game to travel much slower as just about everyone passes me as it is!

No matter, the D4 is still a teriffic car to drive and I love it

I'm out on an SA holiday at the moment in Port Lincoln. Some 620kms from Adelaide. Going at 90kmph I was getting 7.7's on the dash but once at 110kmph, it slowly rose up just over 10.
Back on topic, I've only ever pushed one car to its limits out of a tank. I was getting very low, towing a boat and not a servo to be found. I was sweating bullets and it wasn't fun! Never done it again.
