I'm going to build a oil-burning shed heater based on Roger Sanders' design Roger Sanders' Waste Oil Heater and would like to fit a water separator / strainer on the waste oil supply line.

I was looking the CAV/Lucas/Delphi style filters but they seem to be all around the 5-15 micron size.

I suspect these would soon clog with waste oil passing through them. Sanders, in his design, uses a US-made 100 micron stainless steel washable filter/strainer in a COMBU housing.

I was wondering if any of you gurus know of such a strainer to fit the CAV housing or is it really unnecessary. The oil flow is controlled by an adjustable needle valve so I don't want it clogging.
