Hi Guys, I have a 1996 300TDI Auto 110 sataion wagon. I'm planning to cut the back section off behind the rear doors and put a tray on the back. has any one done this mod and if so any advice.

get the SWB roof first... bolt that on and that will give you a convenient line out to shift the back panels of the existing tub forwards to before you slice and dice.

you'll want a good drill, set of drill bits and a set of spot weld drill bits.

130 roof and rear window section would make it look factory and not hacked up.

True, but I've only ever done it on series rovers before and since a series rover doesnt give the luxury of having the 130 dual cab as an option I hadnt considered it.

AFAIR the roof of a SWB series is the same length as the SWB defender but thats only by eye measurement.

With a 90 being 93inch wheel base, and all the series 3 swb's being 88 (that's right isn't it?!?) the series roof wouldn't be too short for a 110 would it? I've seen some done that way, and I think they even just cut down the 110 roof.

Mind you with a Defender anything is possible!!

a series roof would not work unless you change to a series windscreen......and that would bring the SUCK, big time

ps Mr JR, 90 is 92.9 inch

Good luck with finding a 90 roof.

As you know a series roof won't fit on the front of a Defender
