    D4 mudflap alternatives

Anyone fitted non genuine mudflaps to their discovery 4, just about to pick my new SE model up and just found out they don't come with mudflaps standard. The genuine ones are not cheap and look very fragile

I got some of the cheapies off eBay and they do fit okay. They Do have land rovef on them instead of rover. They are not overly durable and would tear off fairly easily I reckon. I have since fitted sliders and the front ones do not go back on so I have fashioned new ones to fit from the appropriate rubber and they seem to to the job ok.

Mike you are right they are fragile. My dealer threw in front & rear mudflaps but they didn't last very long. IMHO best option really is to get standard rubber mud flaps from Supercheap/Repco or the like and cut them to fit (need cut outs at the rear for the exhaust pipes) and just screw them on.

I have used the cheapies from ebay as well and they are of the same quality as the standard ones ie; they break. The ebay ones I bought needed to have the steel stiffeners swapped over from my old mudflaps as well.

3mm thick polyurethane sheet makes the best mudflaps, or 5mm if you want it more rigid. Cut to shape and screw it on. This is what is normally used on rally cars.

    Example here:

    Hi Mike,
I started a thread on front mudflaps. Same would work for the rears.
    Check it out http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/...k-sliders.html

    Mud flaps

Craig thanks for the link to your posting re mud flaps. I have been thinking about doing something, as the mud up the side of the car is annoying. The option you used with standard flaps from Supercheap and then cut them is good.
    Best wishes
    Bruce
