Well there is egg on my face, I recently mentioned in a thread on here somewhere the Tdci's have their issues, but rarely need tilt trays.

Well,.... I'm up to my third in 2 years, or 60K km unfortunately.

It seems water ingress from the recent storms has taken it's toll and my electrics and they don't know weather they are Arthur or Martha.
It has now power on it's own, and when supplied power the immobiliser wont turn off, or the horn, or the hazards, and the car wont start. Instead it turns on either one or two of the spot lights, and did so long enough overnight to melt the clear cover cases.
I have a Traxide system and I think because it links into the mains, somehow the ECU it's only supplying power to half the system. Not sure but it's very confused.

I'm kind of hoping LRA can use this recent dilemma to finally rectify the leaks with it.

Hope no one else has had electrical gremlins with the recent rain.

That's no good. Let me guess because the rain has stopped, everything will dry out and they wont be able to replicate the problem...

I drove in the storm on Saturday night and I could not beleive the amount of water flowing down on my feet! I have been chasing the leak for a while now...but just can't find it.

Ta guys, I'm not the best at being positive anyway, so I wont say to much as it will benefit no one.

but I'm pushing for the dash out and some kind of shield be mounted and sealed over the fuse box and other significant electrical stuff. I don't think its possible to stop the water, as I have been told in the past it's something to do with the design; so perhaps just deal with it better.

It does concern me that if this happened out of warranty and a long way from a dealer or repairer; it's a long expansive tow, with an expansive fault finding process that could run into thousands. And I can guarantee it rains as hard in central Aus as it did around here on Saturday night.

I hear you Inside, that's why it went back to the dealer I purchased it from. I believe they try harder. The whole thing is annoying, and I feel quite flat about it, but LRA have done well the other times. It's just a process of time.

I've only heard good things about the Gold Coast dealer so I hope they sort it for you. I guess what you don't want is a "We fixed it" but with no real explanation on what they actually "fixed".

I guess before LR get the blame you need to be certain no post factory electrical modifications caused the issue. Still disappointing rain killed it just sitting there, certainly was some amazingly heavy rain we had on the weekend though, but normal for Brisbane in November I guess.

Yes I have that thought with blame. It was odd though, we walked to the car and there it was in the paddock with one spot light on, happily waiting. The car started normally and I started pulling fuses out of the relays to kill the one spot, then it went off by itself. Put the fuses back in and we drove home and all things worked like they should. Got up in the morning and it was completely dead, so flat it would not unlock itself. The key would open the drivers door but disarm nothing. No sign of life with the key in the ignition either. When road side assist added power the alarm went off but could not be turned off, and wouldn't stat. Both spots come on and that about it.

I have heard with a remap you can by pass or switch off the security function. I have heard a few stories now of cars not starting because it want enable, get it switched off and fit your own system if at all.

I got Southside Landrover to remove the immobilizer feature a couple of years ago on my Puma. I had to have it tilt trayed from Dingo to Bundaberg to get it mobile. And 15 days later back to me in Brisbane. Under warranty, but still out of pocket over Grand.

It's 5 year old now, and glad I don't have to worry

about that happening again.

Hi Jason and others. So, you're saying the Puma's still leak down through the back of the dash somewhere are you? If so, isn't that why the vents were sealed up? It's incredible and totally unacceptable. I wonder how many other brands of cars, trucks and 4wd's leaked as much to cause these sorts of problems.
I've an old 96 300TDi Def and whilst travelling at the speed of dark and the noise can be accepted (although the noise does get to you at times), what I find totally unacceptable are the leaks that are everywhere, especially on my feet during light drizzles but I know most of it is from the vents whose seals need replacing. All these comments deter me from upgrading to a newer model; the costs do too

Mostly the leaks come from the seal between the windscreen frame and bulkhead and from the roof join and windscreen frame or A pillar.

I know mine mostly comes from between the windscreen frame and bulkhead/firewall, my vents don't leak (that I'm aware of)
