I had the same problem with mine. We don't have a 1967 land rover in our system so can't help. One call to an insurance broker and problem solved very quickly, now they have all my insurance and a quite a saving too.
Have finally aquired a blue slip to register my Series Three in N.S.W. Because the land rover has a modified engine i.e. a Holden 186 with LPG conversion in it, the insurance companies I have contacted don't want to know about it and refuse to offer insurance. Even the N.R.M.A can't work out what a Land Rover is and are being difficult. I want to use the vehicle on a daily basis. Can anyone suggest an insurance company that will insure a 1982 Series 3 with a holden engine in it? It's most frustrating when I finally get it road worthy and the insurance companies seem to snub you.
Many thanks
Vince

I had no problem with NRMA for my S3.
You are probably better off with third party fire and theft. It's hardly any more than third party property and they will agree with a value anywhere up to $10,000 and lets face it that's about as much as any series 3 Landy can be valued. It will save you heaps over comprehensive and if you write it off the savings on the premium will allow you to buy a replacement.
In NSW Holden 186 conversions were a type approval back in the 1970s and 1980s and didn't require an engineers certification.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Reminds me of the first time I insured my series, "Oh well lets put it under Volvo". "Why?" "It'll save you heaps as they're considered safer". So for a few years I drove around in a Series 2 Volvo.
I've found Shannons to be brilliant. Their service is second to none, and they have no dramas with Land Rovers.
