    20" Rim Dilemma

Planning a trip to Bright early next year with my BIL who has a TDV8 RRS. Not really a 4wd trip as such, but I would like to do a few day trips while we're down there. Nothing too serious but want to show him places like Blue Rag.

Problem is, he's running 20" rims. Much as I would like to suggest another set of rims, its not really worth it. Its currently shod with Cooper HT+ which so far have proved to be quite robust on the rough dirt roads around the farm.

So, question is has anybody done any of this type of 4wding on 20s? Do you think we can get away with it on these tyres or maybe some LTZs, or is it just not worth it.

I should also have the D4 by then. So the other option is if I get some GOE 18s for that, we could run my 19s on the RRS with some better rubber. That's a big expense for me though!

    Cheers,
    Jon

    Hi Jon,
Have heard that the Cooper LTZ's in 20" are a good on road / off road compromise. Not too much available in that size.
I have the same tyre on GOE 18" rims and are extremely happy with them off road.

    Cheers, Craig

    Hi Jon

I have a D4 3Ltr with the 20' rims still running the Pirelli Zeros and have done a few smaller challenging day excursions. So far I have not had an issue other than in deep slippery mud in which the car bottomed out even then I could reverse out. It will probably depend on what your tracks are like and whether they are dry or wet.
