Lucky8's Quick and dirty Lr3 compressor install

As these trucks get older we get more and more requests for compressors. The next question after the order is always, how hard is the instal? If you find yourself in this situation here's a quick run through of what you need to do in order to get your truck back up on its feet.

A lot easier displayed in the vid than in real life - that top bolt is a lot harder to get out than you displayed - likewise you bypassed how to get the hoses off the compressor. I had no issues getting the front ones (blue fittings) off but the big ones at the back would not come out at all and in the end I had to cut the pipes off. Even later when the compresssor was on the bench the fittings would not let go. Thankfully they are only low pressure pipes being inlet and exhaust so when I put my compressor back in I used a piece of old rubber fuel hose to rejoin the two pieces of hose.

Oh did I say that the top bolt is a real pain to get too - but with practice comes expertise.

The title says it all my friend. This is a quick and dirty rundown not a turn by turn install.

And yes I've had some of those other hoses stick on. One time we had to chisel the compressor apart to get the hoses out

Having tried to jack my car on the air compressor I then had to replace the bracket - a real pain - as always the "instructions" ake it sound easier than it is - but a nice vid all the same and will certainly point the mechanically minded in the right direction.

that top bolt need never be a pain, after removing the compressor the first time, just slot the top hole in the bracket before re installing, fit bolt most of the way in to chassis rail and slide bracket up, tightening then only requires a few turns. bottom two bolts are easy. yes some of the pipes are a horror, i usually use a small amount of rubber grease on install, that way in 60 to 80,000km time you can at least remove them again....
