    Defender.Td5 fuel filter

    Hi all,

Has anyone replaced there Td5 genuine fuel filter with a complete RYCO filter and housing kit. I have seen these for $65 and replacement filters are $15. I also like the fact that they have a HUGE glass bowl so you can keep an eye on water contamination. Do you just plumb it in to the four fuel points at the top of the housing?
    Any comments greatly appreciated.

    Nino.

Nino, unfortunately this won't be suitable as the primary fuel pressure is around 80psi... the ryco / CAV type filter systems are rated less than half that.... they were never designed for this application.

    good idea though

I am not a fan of Ryco filters. I was told once by aperkins dealer/ mechanic to pull an old ryco filter to bits and compare the filter material with a good quality one. There was three times the amount of paper in the CAV than the ryco. Told the story to me on what to use.
