    TEMPERATURE SENDER FOR HOLDEN CONVERSION

I have a 1982 series three which has a holden 186 engine in it. When I purchased it the previous owner had a number of gauges including the temperature gauge and sender unit disconnected. I have installed an aftermarket gauge and sender but I wish to get the original temperature gauge operational again. I'm guessing that the old sender I had in the holden engine would not be compatable for the dash gauge and would not show a reasonably accurate reading. Am I right with this and if so, where can I get a sender unit which I can adapt to fit the holden engine?

    Many thanks
    Vince

Vince fit a sender suitable for the Land Rover gauge into the holden engine. VDO make one, I cannot recall the correct ohms but they are available. Otherwise get one from one of the Land Rover parts suppliers.
I have fitted mine into the thermostat housing on the front of the motor and I also have a second sender for an accessory VDO gauge fitted further back in the head.
Someone else on here will know what the correct ohm's the sender needs to be!

    Cheers, Mick.
