    Nissan Cabstar 5 speed

    Hi all,

Am considering the option of a nissan 5 speed box behind my 202. Have found one with a marks adapter already behind a 202.

My questions i have, for anyone who may be able to help, are what are the gear ratio's, or even better still, what sort of RPM would i be doing in 4th and 5th at relative speeds???

I'm trying to achieve low 2's rpms at 100klm/hr.

I currently have 4.7's in the diff's, would these be suitable?? or would i need to still change the diff centre's to 3.54's to achieve these rpms???

Any help from the guru's would be muchly appreciated

    Cheers
    Joel.

A mate did it years ago and said it was the best mod he did. It was a Series 3 ute with a 186 and he had 4.7 diffs. It had a lower first and a taller top. He towed a car trailer with hot rods etc on it a lot. The only reason I didn't do one was you had to either move the engine forward, or the transfer case back.

It was nearly twenty years ago, and I am pretty sure he didn't have a tacho.

    Joel,
considering that a series Land Rover does approx 3000rpm with standard gearing and 7.00 profile tires at 80 kmh and about 3750 at 1000 kmh, the Nissan box in 5th should be approx .75 - 1 which would make the engine rpm at 100 in the viscinity of 2750.
This is only an estimate as I am not sure of the exact ratio of fifth gear in the cabstar box.

    Cheers, Mick.
