    D3 suspension error

    Hey guys

Our d3 has recently begun to show the suspension error on the dash display.

    This stops lowering or raising

I can clear it by locking / unlocking the car 3 times and the suspension will then work ok. Had been ok for a few days but has just returned.

    Any thoughts ?
    Thanks.
    Cheers
    Peter

There's a few things it could be. Any more info? Does it only happen on a height change, or when you start the car, or just randomly? I presume it's the red warning signal, but is there an accompanying message?

    Cheers,

    Gordon

It happens as you are driving along on the road.
Not when doing a height change.

    Brake lights or brakes

I had a few issues due to blown brake globes, many referance to the brake switch causing errors. Fixed with LED globes! Recently a fault in one air line gave an occasional error for susspension for me.
Link below has chat about LED globes.

When not in fault mode, what messages do you see, if any, when you select off-road height?

When in fault you see the amber suspension I dictation at left side of dash under the left cluster.

If you try and select access or off road height it says in the message display "normal mode only"

Its typical of the compressor failing to raise the vehicle quickly enough (or not at all!) when levelling although other reasons are possible. If this is the cause and if the compressor's dryer hasn't been renewed or replaced for some time then fixing the dryer may be all that's needed.

Don't select access height when the vehicle is first started because until it realises that the vehicle wont raise quickly enough, it will honour the lower request then wont be able to later raise the vehicle.

You really need to get the fault codes read to avoid unnecessary expense. If the cause is a failing compressor then before too long the vehicle will be dropped to the bump-stops. Until the codes are read, I would remove the 20A air suspension fuse from the engine bay fuse box to prevent it from dropping and the 5A air suspension fuse from the passenger fuse box to prevent annoying '50 kph only' messages.

The fault presents NOT when I am raising or lowering the vehicle but faults as we are driving along.

Once I clear the fault it will raise and lower normally.

My thoughts are that is it a sensor fault.

Could be an intermittent sensor fault, but could also be an air leak - is the compressor running whilst driving (can be hard to tell)?

    Cheers,

    Gordon
