Diesel Injection Pump Wiring L series Freelander

    Hi All,
    I have a Freelander I with a 2.0 L Turbo Diesel engine (L Series) with the Bosch L720 injection pump - Bosch 0 460 404 973
The EDC wiring on the pump is demaged and the wiring diagram I got hold of doesn't seem to be clear about how to connect up the 7 EDC wires to the loom
The loom is coloured as per the wiring diagram and that is pretty straight except the injection pump has 7 black wires coming out numbered 1 to 7.

On the diagram there is no reference to the wires that could identify the 7 numbered wires to the coloures.

Can someone help with this? ( the connectors were cut off by the previous owner and have been messed up.. soldered, etc)

    TIA

    Tom

Just be aware that the Freelander has a Bosch VP37 fuel injection pump - not sure if that is basically the same as the one you mentioned.

I had a look at my wiring diagram an it just has wire colours rather than numbers 1 - 7 so I am not able to help. The

    Good luck with it .

Thanks Garry, you are correct with the colours, the wiring loom has colours only.
On the other hand, the actual wires coming from the injection pump have no colours, they are all black and numbered 1 to 7.

As a result I have no idea which number matches which colour.

Is your freelander fitted with an L Series engine?

    TIA

I had a L series for many years only selling it in July with 280,000km on it and still going very well. With the exception of one small (well actually large) issue soon after I bought it, it was one of the most reliable cars I have owned.

Re wiring - looking at the wiring diagram again and if you have numbers 1 to 7 then the wiring can only be one of two formats.

    1. White/Grey
    2. Orange
    3. Red
    4. Brown/Green
    5. Yellow/Black
    6. White
    7. White/Purple

    OR

    1. White/Purple
    2. White
    3. Yellow/Black
    4. Brown/Green
    5. Red
    6. Orange
    7. White/Grey

So take a guess I would pick the second layout as that reflects the layout in the wiring diagram assuming number 1 is the top wire (it is more logical to number from the top of the page down than from the bottom up).

Sorry I cannot be more help.
