Interesting predicament today. My MY12 90 started losing power and barely able to rev. I then watched the temperature guage rise rapidly. No other signs of overheating. I turned the engine off and it ran fine and temp returned to normal. I tried the reset with the remote by locking and unlocking 4 times. Didn't fix it. It can idle and the temp remains normal. If I drive it the temp spikes and it loses power. I am in the middle of a move so I have spent limited time fault finding. I rang LR and Bert is off to the dealer tomorrow on the back of a truck. If it is overheating I am not risking 20 kms to Port Melbourne. The coolant reservoir is low but i have not noticed any leaking coolant. It is good it happened today, as on Saturday I leave for Townsville towing a trailer. Let's hope it can be sorted tomorrow.
Sorry to hear Bert isn't well and has a temperature.
Get well soon Bert.
Did the radiator tank feel hot to touch when the temperature gauge spiked?

I had a split intercooler hose which caused my D90 to lose power however i did not see an increase in temperature

interestingly when my intercooler hose split my Scanguage showed a 10 degree increase in temp (the notorious standard temp gauge did not move) and the EGT went up by around 50 degrees from memory - but accompanied by blowing black smoke, lack of power and eventually going into limp mode. Now has silicone hoses zip tied out of the way of the steering
It was nearly 40 Deg today in Melbourne so everything was hot to touch. I haven't got underneath and checked all hoses as I am in the middle of a move. Seeing as it is 9 months old I rang LR assist and i can get on with moving. Hopefully they can ascertain the problem before I leave on Saturday.
My car got picked up at 0830 this morning and taken to the dealers. I got a call at 1000 from the maintenance manager to ask what was wrong with it. I tried to get some idea when it would be ready. I am moving house from Melbourne to QLD and i have a trailer and two dogs sitting at the old address waiting for a lift. At 1400 I rang the Maintenance Manager back and they still hadn't looked at it. I rang LR Assist at 1630 and asked if they could help. They have now promised me a rental to move my trailer to a friends place but the logistics people have not got back to me. I owned a Patrol for 9 years and didn't even have a flat tyre. I love my LR but this is getting silly.

Probably a case of unfortunate timing. So many people away on holidays at this time of year that getting anything done can be problematical.
Every year I'm constantly amazed how 3 public holidays can virtually shut a country down for 4-5 weeks. On the bright side, traffic's nice and light on the morning commute!
Maybe we should celebrate Ozmas instead, on the 25th of June and have all our holidays then, besides for all us that live in Tasmania, the weather is better in Queensland then.
.
I got a phone call from the dealer today. It turns out it was a pin hole in one of the hoses caused by an upside down clamp causing all the fluid to drop. I never noticed a drop and I was underneath him all the previous week fitting aux tanks. Bert lives. The only problem is I am now in Goondiwindi in the wife's car. I will fly back on Wednesday from Townsville and pick him up. I just hope all of Australia isn't on fire.
