    Stupid quick Deefer headlight Qs

Got a set of non-sealed beam headlights in the Deefer as MANY of you would have.

What type of bulbs to do I need - H4 ? (One has blown and its such a palaver to get at it I thought I'd ask first.

The other thing is that behind the headlight there is a black "ring" thing which the headlight fame kinds of screws too sort of like a bayonet fitting (IIRC). Anyway the ones I have a cracked, broken, not very useful.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? If so, are replacements available? Ideally good quality ones?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I want the philips (or similar) "white light" type. Don't want them to be blue. What color temp (degrees kelvin) should I be looking for?

    Presuming something around 5000K?

    This is the Philips link

I THINK these are the ones I have in there at the moment one of which is blown

although it may be another brand.

These are the only 100/90 W ones in the range of H4 bulbs (I have a traxide wiring upgrade) all the others are around 60/55 or thereabouts.

IIRC Supercheap etc charge around $45 or so for them (Edit: for Calibre brand) and around $70 for NARVA

but there must be somewhere cheaper?

Best not to go past 4500K on the bulbs and in fact I'd try to stick below 4200K which will still be slightly blue.

The bowls your talking about are these:
S5400 | Headlamp backing bowl - complete with chrome ring and fixing screws
Shop around, check eBay etc, you can also find them in stainless.

I found out I want more like 4000K or the light looks quite blue to others. Don;t want that kind of attention.

These (Philips Blue Vision) although only 60W are less than $30 online and might do the trick.

I'd be very interested in what others have in their Defenders and their experiences with them.

Found this neat little how to remove and refit headlights, basic but nice to have pics
    http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f41/he...al-130728.html

    As for the bowls -

Checked ebay - there are very few listings

7" Headlight Headlamp Bowls Range Rover Classic Land Rover S2 S3 Defender 90 110 | eBay
are the same as the Paddocks ones.
    approx $59 incl shipping

or these USED ones for TWICE THE PRICE
LAND ROVER DEFENDER HEADLIGHT HEADLAMP BOWL COVER AND SEAL X 1 | eBay

This mob seems to have just the one...
HEADLIGHT BOWL FOR A DEFENDER 90/110 | eBay

Any other suggestions where I might try?

What are Paddocks freight charges like?

    As for the bulbs -

There are only the rally style 100/90s which will officially be non ADR for road use but would they actually be TOO bright?
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2pc-Phili...#ht_2670wt_775

I dont think there's be any leccy dramas as I have the traxide relay kit, but perhaps a 60/55 would be enough?

If the latter the cheapest CrystalVision ones are from here
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Philips-C...ht_1726wt_1008

Ironically the former (Essential Power) are MUCH cheaper than the latter (Crystal power).
