    Puma Xtech bullbar

    G'day all,
Please excuse my ignorance on this but does anyone know the legalities of modifying a bullbar? I really want one to fit my LE 90 but there is nothing that will, the only option I can think of is either building one myself or modifying an existing defender bar, if thats possible. I'm just concerned that either of these options may not be legal and or cause dramas with insurance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

    Cheers, Dave.

We had the same problems with a bull bar for my car (an Xtech).. we made some enquiries and were told that as there are no air bags it is okay to modify or make one to suit.. We are making mine.. (well HE is making it lol)..

Sand grouper your puma does not have air bags unless you have fitted some to the rear springs which wont affect your bullbar

You're right!! Bloody hell, I just assumed this day and age that it would have had airbags fitted, I never bothered looking for where they were I just thought they'd be there somewhere. Oh we'll, the upside is I suppose I can make a bullbar for it myself or modify an existing bar to suit. Thanks for your advice and help guys, I really appreciate it, I know now what options I have,

    Cheers, Dave.

thats one good things about a defender...you can still make your own bolt on bolt off stuff for it as long as it is within ADR rules...

little bit harder for the cheese and biscuit owners

Interestingly, the dealer I bought my landie from told me that an ARB bullbar would bolt straight onto the Xtech after I had said that I didn't think they would. They should really do their homework a bit more thoroughly, it only took me 10 minutes on the net to find out that no bullbar would bolt straight onto the Xtech.

If you lived closer I would have sworn we had the same salesman.. mine told me the same thing.. as well as that the car came with airbags and a few other things it does not come with..

    Ah.. live and learn hey..

It's a bit of a worry Sue! I actually rang my insurance company this afternoon to tell them that the landie didn't have airbags in case it affected the cover, no dramas there fortunately. I'm pretty keen on making my own bar for it now though, at least the fact that it has no airbags means that I have that option.

See there has to be some kind of bonus to not having airbags on the car... we (read 'he') are making a bull bar that'll hold a winch.. plans are done, winch is sitting in the garage.. waiting for a spare weekend (or two).. will let you know how it goes once it's done..
