    series 3 sports wheel

hi guys, I have a slight problem fitting behind the steering wheel of my series 3 swb. I have purchased a 9 bolt steering boss kit, but have a 6 bolt steering wheel. There was some talk of an adapter plate to accommodate the 6 bolt wheel, but I cannot find any on the net. does anybody have a suggestion, please?

Don't we all.... I just use my belly to steer... maybe pop in to the Series III forum and ask, there may be more answers to be had.

    Steering wheel boss.

The S3 spline on the steering column is the same a a Leyland mini. This may help find the correct Boss or wheel.

    Me too!

I got the shock of my life when I first got into my 'new' S3 last year - first Land Rover in years and I didn't recall the older S1s or S2s that we owned years ago being built around the seating comfort needs of rhesus monkeys.

    Breathe in........

    Cheers,

The smaller the wheel the heavier the steering and the more kickback you get, I would suggest that you try the original wheel for a few months, and if you are not used driving series vehicles remember to keep your thumbs on the rim of the wheel and not hooked around it,dislocated and broken thumbs are not a good look.

I removed the 2 bump stops from behind the drivers seat to get a better driving position.

    G'day rpawebb

Are you sure that you have a series 3 steering column, as the series 2 is longer than that of the late 2a with the dished steering wheel,by about 2 inches, but if you have non-standard seats, that will lift you body position closer to the wheel, it also depends on you body size,I am only a smallist build so have no problems, but my son-in-law can't even fit behind the wheel,6'2" and90+kgs. they have a Madza 3 hatch and I reconn "he puts it on" definatly a little squishy in there.

    cheers

I think that a Disco 1 wheel should fit OK as it is smaller in diameter and has the same splines a quick call to MR Automotive will answer that, Dwayne in spares should be able to tell you, he is also knowledgeable in earlier minis as well
