200tdi is not a very early 90 if the tdi is factory install.
What year is it? It could be a series converted to look like a defender or a defender with a series roof.
I have found a 90 that's go a tropical roof. Would this be a after market conversion. It's a very early one, 200 tdi.

juddy . The way to tell if it's a factory , Tropical Roof , is to look inside . Tropical Roofs were common on series wagons . They had vents that opened from the inside , also the roofs had small domes on them , to allow the vents to open . They were quite well made , and well fitted , they do a good job of keeping the heat out . I don't think 90 or 110s had them fitted as standard . Land Rover thought that the improved head lining offerd better insulation . It is possable a few crept through . It could be the one you sore was from an earlier model and had been re fitted ....regards...jimr1
the very early 110 could have the original series tropical roof retro fitted. The tropical roofs for 88" actually had 2 vents in the sloping forward part of the roof, so if the roof on the 90 has 4 vent domes in the flat area after the front, then the tropical roof is a cut down 109.
Army Perentie 110, Senior Commander, Topographical Survey and Command Post FFR all had hard tops with fibreglass tropical roofs, very much heavier than the original aluminium ones.
In the second series of 90/110 before the Defender, had the changed roof without the large ribs and therefore won't easily fit any of the tropical roofs.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
I had a Game with a tropical roof. No vents though.
Cheers

Tropical roofs were never fitted to UK spec or ROW spec Defenders, only Series vehicles.
No reason however why it cant be a LR Tropical roof thats made its way from a Series to a Defender though

Hi jon ,I read a while back about an expat working in Saudi , who fitted a tropical roof on his 110 . Daily temps can reach 45 plus . I don't think they were evan offerd as an option , on 90 or 110s . Land Rover must have stoped making them , maybe someone can ad to this ...regards jimr1 ...
I always thought they were called a Safari Roof ???
I was going to make one for my 110 until I installed the new minibus AC .
