Steering PAS loss
Today I lost power assist 3 times when making sharp LH turns on MY12 130 Defender. The PAS kicked back in after straightening up
This happened 3 times in 20 km on the way home from town, only on left turns. Didnt fault on some LH turns and no RH turns. The fault is intermittent, and the random loss of steering is a bit scary
No apparent symtoms: no sqealing belt, no fluid leaks, fluid tank full, no steering gear bent or dropped off, no flat tyre.
LR assist sent out an agent/tech, and we couldnt get it to fail by repeatedly steering full lock to lock whilst stationary.
I took it for a 30 min run in a paddock after he left and it still would not fault.
Not happy about driving it 350km to the dealer, for obvious safety reasons.
LRA are doing the right thing and trucking it to nearest dealer on Monday. I hope they can get to the cause of this problem.
Anyone had a similar fault and what was the solution?

I had something very similar happen to me today in my MY13 110 (1100km on the clock). I seem to have lost the power steering very briefly for about 3 seconds. seemed to only notice it under acceleration and especially in the 2nd to 3rd gear change. And only to the Left.
going to ring the dealer on monday morning

I lost power steering in my 08puma, coming into Hay, NSW. Same thing, no leaks, squeals or other noises, drove it for another 500km and it came good, never had another issue..the only idea put up was that something got stuck in one of the valves in the pump and cleared itself.?

After the flatbed transport to Perth back in Feb, Landrover dealer replaced my steering box under warranty.
They also replaced the steering lock "just to be safe"?
Haven't had any dramas since.
Although, when I opened the flap to access the OBD socket under the steering wheel I discovered two chiselled off security nuts from the steering lock floating around on top of the fuses!
