Introduction and Question from new D4 owner

Hello. Just bought MY13 TDV6 basic model except for leather and 7 seats.
Had a few Land Rovers and a couple Range Rovers back in 80's-90's. Hoping to look forward to happy relationship with a Rover again.
Couple issues - steering audio controls don't work and one shot global closing also does not work. Dealer says they haven't been activated before delivery ??? My question is - what does the red strap with plastic lever (under the double drink cup holders in centre console, where the handbrake wire loop release is), activate/deactivate ??

    Thanks.

Welcome! There are many secrets in the Land Rover world, but since you are now part of the club (again) I can tell you that the red strap is the emergency manual release for the EDIT: Correction - Gear Selection NOT electronic park brake (in case it gets stuck with the park brake on).

Works on mine.....and at a greater distance than 11 metres.

Was not activated by dealer or me....it came with the car.

I Just hold lock or unlock button down for a few seconds....then all windows go up or down!

    Congrats & Welcome.

Steering audio controls will either be plug not pushed home behind airbag or just a dodgy switch.

Global closing should work (13MY it's baaaaack) by, when locking & windows open, press the lock button & HOLD continuously until windows close.

Red strap is to release Gear selection not Park Brake.

    Cheers.

    Steering Control

    Hi Roving Rod,
Contact your dealer there is a recall on MY13 Disco 4 for the steering controls not working I just had mine replaced after I called the dealer to ask a question they advised the controls needed to be replaced. Any luck on the Global Closing?
