Brakes or suspension - please advise

I'm a long time lurker who took the plunge in October and bought a 2006 TDV6 SE Disco 3.
I still can't get the smirk off my face in spite of what I'm about to describe.

I have an issue with juddering under brakes. The judder usually occurs at fairly low brake pedal pressure and can vary form feeling like a warped disc to quite heavy steering wheel shake accompanied by a thumping noise up front.

With heavy applications of the pedal there is no vibration or judder and no noise.

I know there is a bit of wear in the front control arm bushes but this is apparently within spec or so I was told by the south of the river LR dealer in Perth when I took it in during December while it was still under the statutory warranty. While the car was there I believe they did something to the steering box because some of the noise that had been evident before I took it in was gone and the steering felt tighter but they didn't advise me what they'd done.

The condition of the control arm bushes is such that I can hear and feel a slight knock on sharp speed humps so it doesn't appear that it could be the source of this much movement and noise.

I'm hoping someone here can suggest what is likely to be wrong. Has anyone had this happen?

    Hi dwwakefield

I have the same year and model and my money is on ball joints if it is knocking over speed humps ( mine had same )
And the discs do sound as if they are warped
    Just my opinion

If you are getting a knock it sounds like the control arms to me a common problem with the D3, unfortunately they don't replace the bushes they replace the whole control arms about a $1000 fix.

Also I would inspect closely the antiroll bar to chassis 'D' bushes. Common knocking cause especially on sharp bumps..

Control arm bushes not the whole arms on my D4 were replaced under warranty so some only replace bushes, not that being worn was causing any shudder on light braking.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have got mentally ready for the control arm replacement but was hoping I'd be able to wait a while yet.
Connock, I'm not too sure about the discs being warped as there are no pedal pulsations when I brake harder.

I'll get a good look at the anti-roll bar bushes and hope that's it for now. I want to get the complete control arms replaced but not just yet.
