Question 96 300Tdi Stereo Loom connector converter??

    G'day All,

I was just wondering if someone might know of a converter plug and/or short loom that would allow me to remove my original 300tdi stereo unit and fit a later (post TD5) stereo unit. The size of the two units are exactly the same although the connector plugs are vastly different.

I'm therefore hoping that there might be a converter plug or loom available that would allow me to connect the later stereo unit into the 300 Tdi audio loom.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Rohan.

When I did my '95 300 Tdi it had a standard ISO connector which amazed me at the time that Land Rover hadn't created some unique stupid proprietary plug.

When you choose your stereo unit just get an ISO to whatever you have adaptor and all should be good. Available from any auto shop that sells car stereo units for about $20 or about $4 on line.

You may find if you dig a bit deeper that the plug for the 96 stereo is an adaptor lead plugged into an ISO lead.
This was the case with mine when I did the same upgrade, although from memory I bought another ISO extension lead to make life easier when connecting and disconnecting the stereo.
    Good luck
