Should i a 90 ?

Been dreaming of a Deefer and a 90 fits the bill.

Ive have owned 2 110,s a Tdi and Td5 now thinking of PUMA 90

Whats the concensus on the pumas towing a camper say 1100 kg,s

Love my TD5 90 to bits and I towed a camper trailer heavily laden from Perth to Albany with no problem so a Puma should handle it easily. I think unless you need the space there's nothing better than the little 90's but the only downside is the size of the fuel tank. I realize there are options to increase it but since mines a daily driver and I don't need to be carrying 120ltrs of fuel everywhere I can handle carrying a few jerry cans on the odd occasion I do some distance.

I did drive a Puma round Nepal for 2 months heavily laden with 5 squaddies towing a trailer weighing over 2 tonnes and the engine was so strong I couldn't believe it, there's some big hills in that country and not once was it a worry, the only thing that would stop me buying a 90 Puma is the rear seats.

I've done a lot of towing with my 90.. (caravans 2770t and Campa 1600kgs - that's unladen weight) .. no problems at all.. in fact hubby was disgusted when I easily overtook him in his Disco 2 uphill still in 6th gear while he was struggling with a lighter van in 3rd..

If you want one, just buy it! They are awesome!

Mine is a td5, but it spent most of the first couple of years of its life as a dedicated tug, and moved a lot of suff up to (and probably over) 3500kgs with no drama atall.

Im not worried about a Td5 been there done that and i loved that 110 Td5
The Tdi 110 was always wanting more power , My concern is i currently drive a Tdi D1 modded with lots of goodies and with lpg the power claims with dieselgas are way out to the fact a $4000.00 kit i dont bother using , I didnt pay for the gas as it was on the car which i got real cheap with a cooked motor.
After spending 10 days in the vic high country towing the fully laiden camper the Td1 is just way too gutless i know a Td5 would have done well ,The salesman told me the puma will pull the arse out of a Td5 Yeah right salesman talk ill sort that bloke out latter
Now part of the reason the 90 fits the bill is there is just myself and the lady friend and a new camper so room is not a issue .

The other reason is my lockers out of the D1 will interchange This will become a Tuff tourer and a weekend warrior as all my Landys have been used for the purpose they were built
I should realy do a post on my D1 if the purchase goes ahead cause the D1 will be stripped

Yeah just do it already Chris! The lockers are a straight swap, as are axles etc etc so there are your first 'free' mods....

They DO pull like a train in a 90" body shell, those 2.2 engines....

Yeah 2.2 is a ripper..had a mate who has a TDV8 70 series landcruiser (chipped and exhaust) in the Def 90 yesterday and he was most impressed. Have towed just over 3 ton with mine so 1100kgs should be no problem..
