    STALLING

    HI ALL
I HAVE GOT A DEFENDER TD5 and I was driving down the highway and it started to stall , so I pulled over and turned the engine off and then turned it on , for a while it ran normally but then it started to stall again, its like running on 3-4 cylinders and not 5 as it should be doing .
Can any one give me a idea why its happening so when I take it to the mechanic I know what to tell him !

    Cheers Matthew2

First thing to do would be to check for Oil in the injector loom.

I had a similar thing happen, ended up being the fuel pump.

When it stopped, could you hear the pump squealing? When it starts, does it start readily or is it hard to restart? In addition to checking the fuel pump, This could also be a lower injector washer leak, compression gasses leak past the sealing washer into the fuel gallery and aerate the fuel when loading the engine.
Engine will slowly drop cylinders and lose power until it stops, then a rebleed will be required to start it again. Once started it'll run for a while until another hill or higher engine loads like highway speeds, and then start it all over again.
